Statewide notes
- TxDOT safety rest areas may be used to rest, including sleeping in the vehicle, for up to 24 hours (TxDOT; Texas Transportation Code § 545.411). They are not a Dallas in-town parking plan.
- Camping, tents, and stays longer than 24 hours at rest areas are not allowed.
- City street rules are stricter than state rest-area rules. See the Dallas page for Dallas City Code § 28-80.
